FULL NAME: Margaery Tyrell
NICKNAMES: Queen of the Seven Kingdoms, Your Grace
AGE / DOB: 21
ALIGNMENT: Lawful Good
BLOCK / ROOM: November, 327, Squad 13
PRIMARY MOTIVATION: To be loved and adored as the Queen and bringing her House to political prominence
DEEPEST FEAR / INSECURITY: Losing her family and status
LIKES: Horses, boat rides, positive attention, charity, leisure, her grandmother and brother, undermining Cersei's super totally unfounded hatred of her, her sweet King and husband Tommen, gardens, how easily men are swayed
DISLIKES: Defamation of herself or family, doing actual work, the suffering of the poor in King's Landing, bigotry against her gay brother, betrayal, the Faith of the Seven
FAVORITE TOPICS OF CONVERSATION: She loves making smalltalk as a way to get information, she cares so very much about your life and finding out what she can do for you to earn your loyalty.
Margaery is the perfect picture of the queen of the people, renowned not just for her beauty but her generosity and kindness. She personally visits the orphans in flea bottom and regularly donates food, making a point that it should be the role of the ruling to care for their people. Which never seems to be of much concern to the Lannisters. She gains favor through charm and grace, and earns allies with ease no matter where she goes. She's a very social creature and keeps a close circle of companions, mostly comprised of her handmaidens and cousins, but is more than welcoming to Sansa Stark who she recognizes as a prisoner of her situation and tries to offer the girl a way out.
While most of it is genuine care and empathy, Margaery is also perfectly aware that it's one of her greatest weapons to be adored. Margaery inspires loyalty and offers it in return, taking care of her own. While it's easy to suspect it's all an elaborate facade, Margaery never stoops to backstabbing or blackmail, she never really does much to hurt anyone at all. It's not her kindness that is feigned, but her innocence, and she's much more clever than she wants you to believe. She doesn't really need the credit, though she appreciates when it's recognized. Most of what she wants she gets simply through asking the right people in the right way.
Okay and there might be a bit of manipulation and deception involved, because Margaery is very good at playing whatever role she needs to suit the situation and endear herself to others. She's highly ambitious, and makes most of her plays through powerful men because that's simply how the political structure works in the kingdom. She's married three times to secure her position as queen, and has adopted the perfect role for each one to make herself invaluable to them. It didn't really matter who her husband was, only his title. Her first was actually her brother's lover, and the marriage went unconsummated before his death. Her second was to the notoriously cruel Joffrey, who her own grandmother conspired to poison at their wedding to spare her (and the Kingdoms) the fate. Tommen at his younger age wasn't a strong ruler, uncertain in how to assert his authority, which left Margaery disappointed when she needed him the most to intervene on her and her brother's behalf. While he cared for Margaery a great deal, he proved ultimately incapable of protecting her from the Faith and his mother.
Margaery's greatest devotions are her family, particularly her grandmother Olenna and her brother Loras. She is mindful of her House's reputation, and often acts as support for her brother's weak will. Her refusal to let him take the fall alone for the accusations against his homosexuality ultimately leads to her own downfall, even until the end she sought to protect him. She submitted herself to false confessions, repenting for things she knew the Faith wanted to hear, but never with the intention of giving in. She played humble, regretful, willing to take on a far more modest image to appease her captors and win favor of the trial to set her and her brother free. It might have worked if Cersei weren't crazy.
PROUDEST MOMENT or WORST MOMENT: Realizing too late Cersei's scheme to skip out on her own trial as a death trap and her warnings falling on deaf ears preventing their escape.
WHAT POKEMON WOULD YOUR CHARACTER BE?:Bellossom
HOW DOES YOUR CHARACTER REACT TO ARRIVING: Pretty panicked, considering she just arrived from a life-ending explosion. She'll want to know where her brother is, where the hell she is. Who gave them the authority to lock her up, don't they know she's the queen??? She's going to be pretty disoriented by the time period change in general, she might need lots of talking to. And then she'll brush herself off and try to handle this all with dignity.
WHAT THREE ITEMS FROM HOME WOULD YOUR CHARACTER LIKE?: Her crown, The Seven-Pointed Star, a ring with the Tyrell sigil
[Use the Power Grid]
FIGHTING SKILLS: 1
ENERGY PROJECTION: 1
OTHER POWERS: Making allies and nice hair?
FANDOM: Game of Thrones
CANON POINT: Kaboom @ the Great Sept
WHY ARE YOU INTERESTED IN PLAYING THIS CHARACTER: Everyone is too modern. It'll be fun to see her try to find her place when there's no royalty ladder to climb and she's completely lacking in powers. I also think the show killed her off right when she had interesting character development.
